We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist (Communication and Training) to join our team, supporting the Menstrual Health and Hygiene initiatives.
Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MH) is a critical yet often neglected issue affecting over 300 million people menstruating daily worldwide. Approximately 500 million women and girls face challenges managing menstruation due to inadequate sanitation, healthcare, agency, and the stigma surrounding it. In Nigeria, women and girls encounter numerous obstacles, including lack of education, stigma, unaffordable menstrual products, and the absence of supportive national policies.
PSI Nigeria is implementing ‘MH-NoW’, a three-year project addressing challenges related to easy access to affordable and quality menstrual hygiene products and services. PSI Nigeria is addressing these issues by stimulating local production of affordable menstrual hygiene products, providing MH education, and counseling, and advocating for government policies to subsidize low-cost MH products.
The technical specialist will provide technical input to successfully implement the MHNoW project in Nigeria. The specialist will support the design, implementation, and monitoring of activities aimed at enhancing menstrual health and hygiene, ensuring that the project activities align with the project objectives and strategic goals.

Your contribution
▪ Provide leadership and technical guidance to all BCC and demand creation interventions including developing and implementing information, education/communication and training materials for the project, ensuring they meet high standards and address the target audience’s specific needs.
▪ Develop and disseminate flexible and culturally sensitive messages to combat myths, stigma, and taboos surrounding menstruation.
▪ Engage with community stakeholders to promote healthy menstrual practices
▪ Be responsible for Increasing the visibility of the MHNow project among its external stakeholders through social media, PR, Exhibitions and Media relations events.
▪ Document and Profile MHNow’s key interventions and dissemination of program related activities including best practices, in line with PSI’s PR, Advocacy, communications strategy.
▪ Build capacity following cascading approaches towards increased access and demand for Menstrual Hygiene by ensuring that all capacity-building activities across various project states are consistent, effective, and aligned with the overall project objectives
▪ Understand and leverage opportunities to integrate MH activities into existing platforms at the state level to achieve the scale of the program activities.
▪ Support monitoring and evaluation procedures to ensure project activities align with objectives and goals.
▪ Collaborate with the Team Lead and other team members to ensure project success.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 5 years of related experience OR Advanced degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field and at least 3 years of related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health, menstrual health, or a related area.
• Strong understanding of the cultural and socio-economic context of menstrual health in Nigeria.
• Experience in community engagement and stakeholder management.
• Proven track record in project design, implementation, and monitoring.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to travel locally up to 40%; some international travel may be required
